What to do Before Hiring a Workers’ Comp Lawyer
Workers’ compensation lawsuits require a legal expert. If you’re dealing with a worker’s comp, check out our list of tips before you choose your workers compensation attorney.
1. Referrals
Talk to people you trust and see if they have faced a similar situation to yours, or have any recommendations on good attorneys. Even if the attorneys they recommend aren’t specialized in worker’s comp, a trustworthy attorney will be able to point you in the right direction.
2. Visit the Attorney’s Website
Take a look at the attorney’s website. This will give you a sense of their professionalism and many publish articles about their cases on the site. Read some of these to see if they know what they’re talking about. You may find helpful information for your own case in the process.
3. Schedule a Consultation
Setting up a face-to-face consultation will give you the best opportunity to get specific questions answered and see if the attorney is someone you can trust. You have to have trust that your attorney will do what you need to get the results you want. Many attorneys will schedule a free consultation, but don’t expect it.
Do your due diligence when it comes to picking your attorney. Otherwise, you’ll only end up with mounting legal bills and lost time.
